This race was expected to be among the more competitive runnings of this unique seven-furlong competition for fillies and mares. However, veterinary inspections led to several scratches earlier today, including leading runners Sweet Azteca and Tamara.

As a result, the lineup now appears significantly reduced, though conditioner Bob Baffert has a major opportunity to claim a twentieth Breeders’ Cup victory. His entrants feature Richi and Splendora, whereas Hope Road, winner of the Grade One Ballerina Stakes, is considered the primary threat.
